1. About NoteCovery and This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how NoteCovery ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the NoteCovery mobile application (the "App") available on the Google Play Store.
NoteCovery is committed to respecting your privacy and safeguarding your sensitive personal and recovery data. This policy is designed to comply with Google Play's User Data policies, including the Health Content and Services policy.
2. Privacy at a Glance
- Device-First & Offline Storage: Your recovery records, symptom logs, and personal notes are stored locally on your device by default.
- No Third-Party Advertising or Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or monetize your recovery or health information to data brokers or third parties for advertising or tracking.
- No Third-Party Telemetry/Analytics: The App does not integrate third-party analytics or crash-reporting tracking SDKs.
- Optional Encrypted Cloud Backup: Cloud backup to Google Drive is strictly optional (available via Premium subscription) and is encrypted on your device prior to upload into your private, hidden Google Drive application data folder (
appDataFolder).
3. Medical & Health Disclaimer
NoteCovery is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or health condition.
The App is an organizational logging tool designed to help you track your personal recovery progress and organize questions for your healthcare provider. Always consult a qualified physician or healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment decisions.
4. Information You Provide Directly
When using NoteCovery, you may choose to input personal recovery and health-related details into the App, including:
- Profile Information: Your name or preferred display name.
- Daily Check-In & Symptom Tracking: Feelings, mood, symptom selections, symptom severity ratings, sleep duration/quality, appetite levels, and physical movement logs.
- Personal Notes: Unstructured, free-text recovery notes and reflections.
- Clinician Questions: Questions and discussion topics you prepare for your healthcare visits.
- Preferences & Settings: Daily reminder times, notification preferences, and display settings.
5. Information Collected Automatically & Android Permissions
NoteCovery does not run hidden background trackers or analytics services. However, the App requires specific Android system permissions to operate its core features:
- Network Access (
INTERNET&ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Enables the App to check network connectivity strictly for processing in-app purchases/subscriptions through RevenueCat and uploading/downloading encrypted backups to your personal Google Drive when enabled. We do not monitor your network traffic. - Reminders & Alarms (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS&SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used exclusively to schedule and deliver your local daily check-in reminders on your device. Reminder schedules and notification interaction data are never transmitted to any external server. - Background Tasks (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE): Prevents the operating system from terminating the App while an optional Google Drive backup or restore operation is actively in progress. This service collects no user data.
6. Voice Dictation & Audio Handling
NoteCovery does not record, capture, or store your voice or audio data.
If you choose to enter notes or symptoms using voice dictation, the speech-to-text conversion is handled entirely by your device’s default keyboard and system operating software (e.g., Gboard). Only the resulting transcribed text is entered into NoteCovery.
7. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide solely to perform the App’s core functionalities:
- Storing, retrieving, and displaying your historical recovery entries and trends.
- Generating on-screen progress views and visualizations.
- Compiling on-demand, user-initiated recovery summaries in PDF format.
- Delivering user-scheduled local reminders.
- Facilitating optional encrypted cloud backups and data restoration.
- Managing in-app subscriptions and validating entitlements.
We do not use your health data for marketing, machine-learning training, profiling, or any secondary commercial purposes.
8. Local Storage and Data Security on Your Device
All recovery data you log in NoteCovery is stored in a secured local database located in the App’s private internal storage sandbox on your device.
- No Developer Access: NoteCovery developers have no direct or remote access to your device’s local database or personal notes.
- Device Backups & Uninstall: Uninstalling the App or clearing app data through Android System Settings (
Settings > Apps > NoteCovery > Storage > Clear Storage) will permanently delete your local recovery records.
9. Optional Google Drive Cloud Backup (Premium Feature)
Subscribers to NoteCovery Premium can choose to activate automated or manual cloud backups to their personal Google Account.
- Dedicated Application Folder: Backups are stored exclusively in NoteCovery’s private application data folder (
appDataFolder) within your Google Drive. This area is hidden and inaccessible to other apps, and NoteCovery cannot view, access, or modify any other files or folders in your Google Drive. - OAuth Scopes: The App requests only the minimal scope necessary to manage its own application data folder (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata). We do not store your Google OAuth login credentials or tokens on our servers; authentication is handled securely via Google Play Services on your device. - Backup Encryption: Backups are encrypted directly on your device before they are transmitted and uploaded to Google Drive.
10. Summary Reports & PDF Exporting
NoteCovery allows you to generate a PDF summary of your recovery records to help facilitate discussions with your doctor or clinician.
- Local Generation: PDFs are generated offline on your device without transmitting your notes to cloud AI models or external rendering servers.
- Storage & Transmission: Exported summary PDFs are saved to your chosen local storage directory. You maintain full control over whether, how, and with whom the PDF is shared (e.g., via email, messaging apps, or patient portals). Once shared outside NoteCovery, the handling of that file is governed by the recipient's policies.
11. Third-Party Services and Subscriptions
We partner with a limited number of service providers strictly to support infrastructure and transaction processing:
| Service ProviderPurposeData Handled | ||
|---|---|---|
| Google Play Billing | Payment processing for subscriptions and one-time purchases | Payment card details, billing address, and transaction status (processed directly by Google Play; NoteCovery never sees your financial details). |
| RevenueCat | Subscription infrastructure and entitlement verification | Anonymous App User ID and subscription purchase receipt/entitlement status. NoteCovery does not send any health, recovery, or note content to RevenueCat. |
| Google Drive (Google LLC) | Optional user-initiated cloud backup | Encrypted database backup files stored in your private Google Drive account. |
We do not integrate advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or data brokers.
12. Data Retention, Account Deletion, and User Control
Because NoteCovery operates without a centralized backend user database, you have complete sovereignty over your data:
- Deleting Local Records: You can delete individual entries or use the "Delete All Data" option within the App’s settings. Uninstalling the App or clearing App Storage from Android settings also permanently removes all local data.
- Deleting Cloud Backups: If you enabled Google Drive Cloud Backup, you can remove backups directly from the App settings or by visiting your Google Account storage settings (
Google Drive on Web > Settings > Manage Apps > NoteCovery > Delete hidden app data). - Subscription Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play Subscriptions. Canceling Premium discontinues future cloud backup syncing but does not automatically delete backups already present in your Google Drive until you remove them.
13. Children’s Privacy
NoteCovery is intended for individuals aged 13 and older (or 16 and older in jurisdictions where local regulations require a higher age of digital consent). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to ensure that data is deleted.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, new features, or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted within the App and published on the public listing page. Because NoteCovery functions without central email collection, material updates will be highlighted in the App’s release notes and on-screen update notices.
